Individual Validated Data Tokens (IVDTs)
Individual Validated Data Tokens (IVDTs) are non-transferable, identity-bound Validated Data Tokens designed to represent a single verified individual with a high level of assurance. An IVDT acts as an immutable digital identity anchor by binding biometric verification, government-issued identity validation, device context, and location metadata into a single cryptographically verifiable token.
Each IVDT is minted once per individual and remains permanently bound to that person. It is not transferable and cannot be reused by another identity, ensuring long-term integrity and accountability.
The customers Individual Validated Data Token (IVDT) is minted as the on-chain outcome of a successfully completed KYC process. When an individual passes the configured KYC verification flow such as identity document validation, biometric and liveness checks, and required compliance screenings ChainIT cryptographically seals the verified results into an IVDT.
Purpose of an IVDT
IVDTs exist to establish proof of personhood and identity authenticity in zero-trust systems. They replace reusable credentials, usernames, or assumption-based identity checks with a verifiable, audit-ready identity record that can be independently validated across systems.
An IVDT answers, with cryptographic certainty:
- Who the individual is (verified identity)
- What identity evidence has been validated
- When the identity was created and verified
- Where the identity was established
Core Characteristics
Identity-Bound and Non-Transferable
IVDTs are permanently linked to a single individual and cannot be transferred, reassigned, or duplicated. This prevents identity reuse, impersonation, and credential sharing.
Biometric and Government ID Verification
Each IVDT encodes validated biometric references and government-issued ID verification results, ensuring that the identity corresponds to a real, verified person.
Immutable and Audit-Ready
Once minted, an IVDT becomes a tamper-resistant, cryptographically sealed record suitable for regulatory, legal, and operational audits.
High-Assurance Identity Anchor
IVDTs serve as a foundational identity layer that other workflows, tokens, and validations can safely reference.
IVDT Verification Dimensions (4Ws)
In an Individual VDT, verification is structured around four primary dimensions. Supporting reference images are attached as part of the verification context.
Who - Verified Individual Identity
Includes verified personal and biometric attributes, such as:
- Avatar / biometric profile image
- Full legal name and name components
- Date of birth, age, and sex
- ChainIT ID
- BeingID level and history
- Contact identifiers (phone number, email)
- Government-issued identity validation references
This dimension establishes who the individual is, with strong identity assurance.
What - Identity Evidence and Validation Results
Represents the identity artifacts and compliance checks validated for the individual, including:
- Government ID types (e.g., Driver’s License, Passport)
- ID numbers, issue dates, and expiration details
- ID verification and expiration status
- Identity document images (front/back)
- Compliance and screening results (e.g., sanctions, PEP, background checks)
This dimension defines what evidence was verified to establish the identity.
When - Identity Creation and Minting Context
Captures the time-based attributes associated with identity creation and token minting, such as:
- Account creation date and time
- IVDT minting date and time
- Blockchain reference
- Transaction hash and block reference
- Token ID, token type, and minting status
This ensures chronological integrity and traceability of the identity lifecycle.
Where - Location and Device Context
Records the physical and technical context under which the identity was created and verified, including:
- Home address and address verification status
- Geolocation coordinates and map references
- Device location and IP address
- Device type and device name
- ChainIT ID creation location
- City, state, and country
This establishes where the identity was asserted and verified, strengthening provenance and fraud resistance.
